Dearest Mother:
You will see by the address that my Paris leave has come through and we are here and having an ideal time. Herb McEwen, Ben Conrad and a bunch of us, about ten in all, are staying at the same hotel and have been on the go steadily ever since we came in on the 20th. We get up between eight and nine, have breakfast and start off sightseeing and there is so much to see and our time is so short that we have not a great deal of time to lose if we want to take it all in. I will not attempt to give you any descriptions in this as we are going out to Luxembourg Gardens in a few minutes but will write a long letter towards the last and tell you all about what we have seen.
Was up to a service in Notre Dame this morning. Of course it was all in Latin and French but the music was grand We have been around on the Great Wheel from which you get a magnificent view of Paris. Have seen most of the principal buildings and have also spent a day at Versailles which is perhaps the grandest place I have yet been, for besides its artistic beauty it has a grandeur about it which makes one feel it immensely.
Next to the Chateau of Versailles or perhaps equal to it in beauty is Les Invalides where Napoleon is buried. But more of this later when I shall attempt to describe some of its beauty. I have also got views, I think of all the places I have been and will send them at the first opportunity.
Now Mother the boys are waiting and I must go. Will write again in two or three days.
Love to all from, Harold
