France April/26/4/18 My Dear Ivy I have wrote two letters tonight Ivy and they are all ones that I should of answered before. So I will have to say the same to you, And that is that you will be thinking that I am never going to answer your most welcomed letters. Well Ivy it is sure that the people in Canada are better off in every way then the British people are but I think that the roumirs that get around are far fectched.. April 28 there I start again to try and finish your letter. I only got a few lines wrote the other night because my candles burnt out so I will try and finish it this time in day light I dont think that they had any intention of sending Dad any official news of Leslie until I wrote to his Captain and asked him if he knew of any better news so he wrote and told me what happen. Then the next time I heard from home they had got word Well I think that it is far better we know that he is dead than a prisoner and wounded because he would only have a dogs life of it. Ivy I think that your snap was fine but who is this person you call Dixon. A girl or a boy. I think you had better send me one of them next time you write. No I am not getting my mail any better than George. I have had one letter this last three weeks, but I guess I am not the only one as there hasnt been much Canadian mail for that length of time. I will find out about Allen Hopper the next time I find the 8th and I sure will make myself known. We are having very dull weather here now but we cant kick as we have had a fine winter altogether Now Ivy I think this is all the news Hoping you are well as it leaves me the best Your Loving Brother Eric E.
