Hut C3 M.R. Depot

Shorncliffe Kent

Dear Mother,

I received three letters from you the other day which had been held up at the school at Hastings. I also received one from Florence, telling me that Evert was at the 11th Reserve so I went across and looked him up. Jimmy Playfair is over there and so are a lot of the old-timers out of the Battalion. I received two snaps from Florence of the family group. Evert is looking well but is liable to go on draft any day as he is marked fit.

The heading stands for Manitoba Regimental Depot and is a clearing unit for all the cripples. I was on labour draft but they took me off and I am still sticking around.

Well I expect the boys will be seeing Dad again as the Canucks are back in Belgium. They appear to be getting it hot. Syd must have had a fine time down at Nice and Monaco.

We are having pretty decent weather just now, of course we get our proper share of rain but we have good huts and well drained so we shouldn't worry.

That was tough luck about Uncle Fred's girl and would cut his holiday short.

Well dear there is not much to write about, give my love to everyone.

Jack
