Dear Sister: -

Just a few lines to let you now that I am still alive. We are at Sewil now came down on the first haven't been doing any thing mutch since mostley mess parades and church parades I gess we will get it tomarrow good and hard some way they feed us to we usually get half what we are suposed to get some times not that some body is making monney some where and we get the benefit I gess not it is all sand aronnd hear we sleep in the sand eat sand wash dishes in sand and some men shave in sand we sleep in Beel tents about 12 feet across 10 in a tent packed in like saridines

How is everything at Cabri,

I was anoculated in swift currant the day after I came in put me on [?] the next day, the put us bilding rail road for the CPR yesterday put an extra side track in about 200 of usss I am in no 1 section of no. 4 platoon [?] there is 16 platoon in the Batt and 4 sections in each platoon and about 54 men in each platoon so you can gess about how many rum we have got I am getting on good [?] is good but nothing like you [?] praps heard nothing like General sir John Hughes told the reporter praps you saw it in the paper he took a reporter in to head quarters and ordered a meal fore him, they reporter was complementing him on the way government replied then with grub and he told the reporter that the men got exactly the same grub as head quarters just as well cooked an just as good a quality and the reporter [?] it in well I guess I will close.
