Bramshott Camp Sunday March 4, 1917 Dearest Jessie, Just a few lines I haven't heard from you for over two weeks. I don't know whether it is the fault of them hear or your not writing. I had a letter from Ellen a few days ago well there is nothing much to write about from here we are still in quarantine and will be for 3 or 4 weeks yet we were on Church Parade this A.M. and a route March this afternoon about a mile or so we have to drill just as hard as the rest of the men. They picked a draft for the 17th but I am not in it if we were out of quarantine I would have been in it. It is going to the 85 So I would have minded it. I had a letter from Spencer last Monday, he hasn't been to the trenches yet has seen Pt. Sedgwich and Capt. Clarke. I had a few Pictures taken the other night but they are not much good but will send you one. I am going to get some more when I get out of quaran. if we ever do. I saw Mr Harwood a few days ago he said he had a good letter from Edson Fisk saying people were very busy around home this winter,. it is not much like our March at home it is about like April here. there is not much talk of peace in the papers now. I guess when the war stops it will likely stop as quick as it started. how is Father and yourself since you had La grippe. I suppose you are having some pretty cold drives to Murchywill[?] this winter. I had a card from there yesterday which I must answer this week if I get time. is John Calling his baby John Burns Reid after himself? Suppose you haven't been down to see it yet. Sadie said she was going down as soon as she could get away. [?] is trying for a commission is he? Well I hope if he gets it he will use men like [?]. Some officers don't seem to realize that we are men but this is the hope I am feeling fine so much out door work. When does Stan expect to come over seas and how does Cassidy like the army. I wouldn't think Cas would be muchgood at keeping him self clean [?] shinning buttons and so on. We have to be shined up some here. Well I guess I will cut this short as I have a chance to mail it hope you get those songs before this with Lots of Love to all Aff Bro Donald xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 17th Canadian Reserve Batt E Coy Bramshott Camp
