Dear Sister,

It is so long since I have written to you I suppose it will be quite a surprise to get this letter, but you know I am not a very good letter writer.

Well I am in England and feel sorry that I did not see you before I left Canada but we left sooner than I suspected or I sure would have been two see you.

We sailed from Halifax and landed in Liverpool, it took us just six day until we were on shore we had a very calm trip there was hardly a swell on the water, after landing we had a trip on the train which took us through the outskirts of London and gave us a chance two see the country which seems very pretty. we are now in camp drilling pretty steady but we have a pretty good time. Well how is the world using you anyway I hope fine & I hope you are feeling good.

Say I have lost Louises address so this letter will be for both of you can have Louise write to me, I wrote to mother about a week ago I hope she has my letter if you write her when you get this so if she has not got my letter she will know I am alwright.

Hoping that you & your husband are in the best of health I will close with lots of love

from your brother
John.

There is a draft going from our battalion to France this week but I am not sure about going but address my mail here and I will get it anyway. Pte. J. R. McDougall
