Some Where in France
Dear Sister,-
Just a few lines to let you know that I am still alive which is about all that I can say.
I want to thank you for the socks that you sent me which were very nice. Well things are as usual with me I'm feeling pretty good we are having pretty cold weather and I always feel better when it is cold. Well I see talk in the paper of the states going to war will I wish they would the sooner the better either that or peace be declared because it doesnot take such an awfull lot of this war game to be enough for anybody.
Well I hope that you are feeling good and that you had a good Christmas also Catherine give her my best regards and tell her I would like a letter & tell her to put her address in box car letters somewhere & maybe I will be able to write to her, Ill tell you I like to get letters a lot better than I do to write them so don't always wait to get a letter before you write for a letter or anything from home looks good here tell Catherine she could make some good fudge lots of it & some kind of cake that will keep pretty good & put it in a tin box & mark on the outside what is in it & then mail it to me and I will take very good care of it after it gets here well I think I will close with lots of love from your brother
John.
