We have been having pretty chilly weather lately. At present there is about four inches of snow and it gives us great fun in having snowball fights. Our hut is isolated on account of measles breaking out. The chap who had it is on ten days leave. We had to stay in for twenty-one days. We are all thinking of getting measles just for the sake of getting leave. The chap who got his is very lucky for leave is hard to get now. We get our meals, etc. brought to us and we can sleep in the morning, which is fine of course. It will be hard to get up the first morning on parade. We go for route marches every day and sometimes have a little physical drill. We cannot go anywhere unless we have an N.C.O, with us. I am enclosing a couple of snaps. One will give you an idea how straw is stacked in this country. I think you will not find it hard to recognize the chaps in them.
Yesterday on our route march we had a lively snowball fight, and believe me we had some fun, and it was a great change for us. We often wish we had skates with us for the ponds around here are frozen.
We are expecting a draft from Cobourg, also from Montreal and Saint John. They are supposed to come to-night but I do not think they will come.
