Dear Mother
just a few lines to let you know that I am in good health and am living good. Mother just a line or two to let you know that your son has not forgotten you. The 70th Batt was on a long hike on Friday It was the first long march that we have had for a long time so you can guess it was hard on the feet for the first time, some of the fellows became sick and fell out but Bob stuck to it we were walking very fast to try and beat another Batt wich are old but we had to go some beleave me Mother Dear. Well Mother the Batt is getting well trained in everythink and the men are looking forward to go Overseas they all want to go over has quick as they can has you know they want to see there [?] and have a grate time before they go to the Front. Mother Dear how are the boys getting along I should like to see them now we would have such a grate time together If I was there [?] how his little jimmy and Dear Old Gladys and all the other getting on I should like to see them just now Well God Bless the boys I hope they are doing all they can for you Mother which I think that they are God Bless them I shall never forget the time I had when I was home with them I have never had such a good time since I came out hear Mother. But I am having a grate time now we have too Soldiers Clubs and we have great time in them all kinds of games and sports we have a dandy time we can do all we like so long has we dont [?] to much a [?] everythink the Soldiers have the best time Mother in London everythink they can wish for Well Mother Dear I hope you are keeping in good health and all the others give my love to all the [?] and tell them I shall soon be over to see them for very long. Mother I am sending you a little present for yourself and one of the children [?] for gladys to I wish you would tell gladys to write to me Dear Mother I am sending them shortly I could not send them before has I have had to pay out a some of money to the Hospital. Well give my love to all and tell them I am coming home shortly Mother I wish send me a Photo of the boy and tell Gladys to have one taken. Well I guess thats all to night give my love to all Mother
