P.P.C.L.I. Battalion

Dear Mother: -

You see I am still here but we have just got our orders tonight (10 p.m) to be ready to leave for France tomorrow morning at 4 o'clock. I have everything packed and am glad to get away. I haven't time to write a letter now, but will write regularly every week from the front. Don't worry about me all, for I shall keep my head down. Be sure and put my number on all my letters for there are several other Richardsons in the Battalion now. My address will be simply my number and name, P.P.C.L.I., B.E.F. France. I hope you will write often for I am always glad to hear from you if it is only a few lines. My other M.A.C. friends Stevens and Hawthorne are going too.

With love to all,
Affectionately, your son,
