My own dear wife,

I am sending this along with the letter I wrote a week ago, I was foolish enough to trust our sergeant to post it for me & he put it in his pocket & of course forgot about it, I am not going to open it, I will send it as it is & post the lot myself, I am sorry this has happened dear, as I guess you are getting anxious to hear from me by this time, however it cant be helped now & in future I will post my own letters. I have seen nearly all these places shown here in our route marches & I can assure you they are good pictures, I hear we are going to march to Dover in a few days & back, I am looking forward to this as Dover is a place I would like to see as I have heard so much about it, & its chalk cliffs & all that kind of thing, I will tell you all about it when we get back, I am writing this in haste as I want to get this & my letter posted before bed time, give George & Eileen a great big love & kisses from Daddy & with love & kisses to your own dear self I remain

Your loving husband

Jack
