Dear Mother:-

As you will see by the heading I have put in my regimental number. It would be wise to put it on my letters in future just as a precaution.

I have been kind of disappointed today as I was supposed to have gone on my long leave but they stopped my pass as there is a big inspection coming up this week. We have been out all this last week manouevering, slept out four nights.

I was down last night to see Dad. He is still alive and kicking.

We have had dandy weather lately but it's raining today.

Had been going to write earlier in the week but have been so busy and lazy. I received a letter from you and Miss Lumsden last night. Syd has had letters from Fred, Aunt Ethel and you lately, also Lil.

How are Philip and Bessie keeping? Tell Frank if he gets a job to stick to it like glue.

Give my love to everyone. I am writing Miss Lumsden tonight. By the way what Company is Arthur with?

Love,

Jack
