Dear Mother:

Last night I received a letter from Violet dated Dec. 24th and have been looking for a box for the past week. I thought there would surely be one to-night but there wasn't. Maybe it will come to-morrow. This afternoon we went to the next village for a bath and change of under clothes which were very welcome. It has been trying to snow to-day but it is mostly rain and not very cold. I have not heart from Art lately but expect to soon. When are you going to send me some pictures of the new house? The other day I saw Ed Campbell he is in the 4th Batt I think. I did not get a chance to speak to him though. It will soon be my birthday mother. I suppose Bruce is still going to school. Tell him to take the advice of an Old Soldier and stear clear of those recruiting sargeants as he is far too young for this kind of a life. I will close now with lots of love to all at home.

Your loving son
Jay
