Dear Mother
Just a few lines to let you know what news is going although there is not much to tell I expect Gordon has told you about all there is to tell. We had a big dance the night before last here and there was an awful crowd here. I am going to take a course of Musketry and Machine Gun work with another Sergts and two Officers so you can see I am getting on fine in the Army I think I can beat Horton yet (What do you say) I have been feeling rotten this last two or three days I don't know what is the matter with me if any of the boys in the platoon wink an eye on parade I jump on them like a ton of bricks. I am enclosing some photos in this There is one of Gordon and I lying in the tent at Sewell Camp. We had a photo of our platoon taken this morning and if they come out good I will send you one. There is not much to tell down here because its the same old thing every day drill and marches. Jack Hoskin is here shining up to go out while poor me has to stay in every night now and study the ross rifle. We have a pretty good place here except that we have to sleep on the floor. The Sergts have a room with a [?] and a Bullyard table (excuse the spelling). We are coming up there for Xmas if we can but I think we can only get about 6 days leave. Well I must close now Good-by for the present Love to all
