France
March 27th 16
Dear Mother:-
I received your welcome letter of March 1st last Wednesday. I also had a letter from Syd last night. He seems to be quite happy and well. He tells me he has had two letters from Dad since he came to France. I don't think Syd knows where dad is as all the letters are censored even going from one unit to another.
So Frank has joined up, has he? I guess it was no use trying to hold him any longer. Be sure and send me a photo of him and give me his regimental number and company.
Well anyhow they have all the Row family that they can get now. Nobody will ever be able to say that we have not done our bit. Tell Philip he needn't worry about joining as Dad is doing his share.
I knew Capt. Matthews well as he was our platoon officer for a while when we first mobilized. He was one of the best officers we had and was plucky. He was one of the old 90th officers.
So Dad seems to be pleased to be in France. Well on hospital work a person might as well be in France as England.
Well it is raining tonight although it has been a fine day. We had another snow storm the other day but it went off again.
Well I am keeping well and looking forward to leave somewhere in the dim future. Our canteen is going along fine and seems to be doing a pretty good business. We have been on this job six mos now and still going strong.
Well dear keep your spirits up and don't worry, we'll all be O.K. Give my love to Bessie and Philip and tell Frank to let me know how he likes the army. They sure have a fine billet anyhow. I suppose he will go to Sewell in the summer.
