Dear Mother,
Have not had a letter from you for a week or two but I guess can't expect everything all at once.
I am getting along O.K. and am still doing fatigues etc.
We are having first class weather over here.
I heard from Syd on 17th May. Said he and Frank had both been over the top that month but were both O.K.
Had a letter from Dad who seems to be in good spirits.
Syd mentioned in his last that Archie McElleran was wounded.
Have heard from the Rows at Croydon, just a few lines.
I was up before a board today and was marked for physical training as my arm is almost good as ever.
The summer is in full swing here and bathing opened up last Monday, it being Whit Monday, the opening of bathing season in this country. We had a holiday all day and there were sports in the afternoon in one of the parks; baseball, tennis, running and jumping. It was like home to hear them yelling their heads off. The Can. Officer's Training Corps at Bexhill won the games.
I am really in St. Leonards now but the two towns are grown together till they are like one town. It doesn't matter which you put on the letters.
Well dear remember me to any of the friends you see and give my love to the kids.
Your loving son,
Jack
