Dear Mom & Dad,

I was very glad to receive your letter of Nov.7th which just came this afternoon. It took twelve days, which is very good. It is only the third from you since my departure. I haven't received any boxes yet but I sure am looking forward to them. Some of the boys have received ordinary letters (3¢) right along with the air letters, so if you like you could try it because then you can send clippings, snaps, etc., which you cannot do in air letters. One of the boys heard from home that our flight down here was written up in the Star Weekly a short while ago. Yesterday I got a card from Jim, posted on the 14 Oct. from Warwickshire. It seems he & Gwen, and Gerry & Fran were there on leave. I also got a letter and a couple of pictures from Charlie Carnegie and his wife and their twins. I don't know if you remember or not, but I used to work at the lumber yard with Charlie and they lived upstairs at Chatty's place. They live on Robins ave. now and Charlie works as a shipper for Consumer's now. In one of the pictures with Charlie, is his brother who is a flying officer with the R.C.A.F. in B.C. somewhere. I had written them from England. I meant to go and see them while on embarkation leave but I didn't get around to it. I don't remember if I told you or not but I got a letter from Aunts B.&E. on Nov. 10th that was posted on the 5th Oct. They sent two pictures that they took while I was down there. One was of me in front of the Stanford Univ. chapel at Palo Alto and the other was of Colin, Alice and I in Auntie's back yard. They were pretty good. I got one on the 11th (while I was answering Aunties) from Beatrice Fearnley and both letters mentioned Aunties visit to Van. and also Fearnley's new address. They like their new house fine. Bea & I went for a walk by it one evening and it is really much better. The part of your letter about Jim confuses me. I think he wrote me that the wedding would be Dec. 2nd., and you say he should be married by now. Perhaps you didn't count on your letter reaching me so soon. I didn't know about Bill Nicoll, but I'll try to find out if he is in this outfit. That was nice having Uncle Joe to stay with you. I hope he is enjoying good health. I got a nice letter from Margaret on the 16th. It came in eight days. She had written several previously though, that haven't reached me yet. She sent her photo, too, and wants one of me but I haven't any decent photo with me. I have some taken here working on our ships but I can't send them through the mail. Thanks, Dad for writing part of the letter. It was a most pleasant surprise. I haven't had a chance to get in overtime yet. Maybe night & day though when we move into the forward area. I thought I mentioned it before but Margaret is my girl-friend in Liverpool. I didn't have it as bad as Jim but had I had stayed there, --- I don't know. Thanks for the financial "gen." I may send more when I get where money's no good.

Joe.
