Please accept my sincere apology for not writing to you to let you know that I received your most welcome parcel. The parcel arrived in time for Christmas and was enjoyed very much, not only by myself, but by the boys with whom I shared it which is the custom at that time of the year. There are always some parcels that are late in getting to the boys and when we share them up everybody has a little of everything and it makes a good Christmas for all.

We had a lovely dinner in the mess at both Christmas and New Years with plenty of turkey and all the trimmings, and I might say, almost as good as you would get at home.

I know that you people as well as all the boys are hoping that this mess will be all over before very long and by the news lately t may not be too long.

Thanks again for your lovely parcel.

Yours truly
