Dear Mother

I received your letter from Lannigan yesterday and was very pleased to hear from you. It is the I received since you left Melfort.

I am glad you are settled and the like the new town. I guess it will be quite a while before I will see it.

I will be very glad to receive a pudding from you. It is all I need for I guess you will need your money more than I for a little while. I still have the little green stone you gave me. I have sown it in my pocket of my coat and carry it all the time.

I am not going away at Xmas as I could not get a pass but I am going for 6 days at New Years (It is a public holiday this year).

There is nothing very exciting here. Xmas is a lot quieter than usual.
Thank father very much for the letter. I will not answer it now as I have so much writing to do and I hate it anyway. I have not written t Uncle Will but I will do so.

Oh, I am going to France about the middle of January. We were told yesterday to be ready after the New Year's passes. I am not riding for we have had a good and easy time lately.

I believe I told you that you had better send my letters to Uncle Geo. I guess you had better start when you get this letter. It will save a lot of bother and will be more direct in the long run for they are careless and slow in the battalion orderly rooms.

Well I do not feel like writing so I will close. Give my love to Father and the kids and Goodbye with love from

Your loving Son

P.S. Do not take any notice of the Journal about how to address mail to the front. It is wrong.
