My dear Mr Mackenzie,
VINCENT being an old boy of the school I thought perhaps you might be interested in the enclosed, which are copies of letters received from his fellow officers.
I have always intended writing you to tell you how proud I was of the old school and its war record, but my pride is tinged with sorrow when I think of the many old friends and school mates who have given their all.
It has not been my good fortune to meet many OLD BOYS overseas, but Bill Carey and I met frequently, the last time in fact was on our way to the SOMME, a few days before his death.
I was very much interested in the Chronicle which you forwarded father, and I would like very much to get it occasionally so as to keep in touch with the old school. I notice you have omitted Billy Barclay's name from the honour roll, and in speaking to Mrs Barclay the other day I told her should I write you I would call your attention to the fact. I am not familiar with his war record, but I know for some months back he has been attached to the 15th Battalion as a lieutenant.
My health is still not up to the mark, so we have decided to go to Bracebridge for a time, in a effort to bolster it up.
With kindest regards to Mrs Mackenzie and yourself.
Yours sincerely,
Rolin [last name unclear ?]
