Dear Mr Reid.

Just a few lines. Of course it is some time since you heard of you son Donnies death, you will have to excuse me for not writing to you sooner but after he got killed I immediately was on the move; since that I have enquired where he was buried and other particulars. He was killed in Arras with a bomb killed ammediatly with shrapnel in the head and back. he was buried in the Arras cemetray. and Captin Hunter which was our chaplin held a service over the boys that was killed with the bomb. Did you get his pocket boock, I asked he said he sent all his percinal property to his next to kin. His death was a big blow to me, we were always together and being the only two boys I am the only one it seems cuite lonesome; but as the war is over one can look forward for getting home, which will be a happy day. which I am hoping wont be long. You will have to excuse me for writing this lettar in pencil, but my pen went bum on me and I can't use it. I hope these few words of information of your son Donnie death will ease you. My beleaf of what I have seen is there is a path in this world for one to take and which he has faught and died nobley for his king and [?]. will close for this time Hope this finds you all well as it finds me. Remember me to all.

I remain you truly cousin
Stanley Reid
