Dear Mother, -

Received your most welcome letter that is they are all welcome but the registered one came in very handy, there was 15 in it is that right.

Well things are just about the same as usual with me I cant say very much as they are very strict about correspondence. I never received your birthday letter I wish you would tell me what was in it. We are having pretty cold damp weather here now and it is very foggy when I get home. I will sure be satisfied with anything I could sit and wait a month just for one good square meal and I will sure have them when I get home.

Bob thats my chum his people live just of Glasgow a place called Bearsden, he did not come to France with me he was left in England. I have met several fellows that I used to know in the west since Ive been here.

There is no heavy fighting where we are at present I hope we stay in a place where there are as few casualtys. You said you received know money for Sept. well by this time you should have it and Octobers to well if you have not received it why write to the government and find but what is the matter because you should have it as it is held out of my pay all the time. Well I guess that's about all for this time so I will close hoping you are feeling good and enjoyed your Christmas Ill close with lots of Love
Your Son
John

P.S. Excuse writing as we dont have a very good place to write all the time. All donations are acceptable & very helpful.
