Dear Auntie

just a line to let you know that I am still safe & well. We have been so busily engaged lately that I could not find an opportunity to write to you before this.

Happily I have come through safely & feel very grateful. I have had some very interesting & exciting experiences since I last wrote but owing to the censorship I am unable to repeat much about them.

You probably have heard all about the new Armored Cars "Tanks" which we are now using. They have proved to be a very great success & have lived up to the many sensational reports which have been published about them in fact if they can be secured in large enough numbers they bid fair to revolutionize trench war fare.

The bad weather seems to be setting in now & the deep mud makes things a great deal more unpleasant for us all. Father Violet & Will where all quite well in their last letter also Uncle Fred "Grandma" & the rest.

Things are going very well for us lately but we can hardly expect the war to end at least for another year or so. It will take generations for this country to ever recover itself & I don't think the scars will ever be removed. There is not a single brick or branch of tree left in dozens of the towns close by & the whole earth around is shaken up like a "rough sea" by thousands upon thousands of High Explosives Shells & dugouts 10 & 40 feel down are far from being safe from terrible fire. Well Auntie I must close again for the present please Remember me to Uncle Henry George, Edith, Darcy & all the rest with very kindest love & wishes

Your Loving Nephew
Arthur
