Letter No 98
My dearest mother,
We are continually getting reports of allied advances at various parts of the line which quite bucks me up. The news continues to be good down South, while on our right it is reported that the Australians and Canadians have advanced five miles. I don't know for certain, but believe that the Boche has retired on this section; this is jolly cheerful news.
There is very little news to give you today. I had an easy morning clearing up and getting all my traps together prior to making a shift. I am expert at packing up my stuff now. I wrote to Mr. Curl in reply to the letter I have had from him, cheering him up and congratulating him on the fine way the Troop seems to have been going of late.
The march this afternoon was not at all bad as the weather was fine and as soon as I arrive tea was ready. At present I am at W--- having been here several times before, and billeted for the night in one of the usual old barns.
The post is not up yet so I have nothing much to say - except, perhaps, to urge you to be of good cheer; that is the secret of our happiness. Give my love to all,
With fondest love and heaps of xxxxx
From,
Dinkey
