Glen Clarke Sends Chatty Letter

Likes His Work on Headquarters; Staff, as It Takes Him to Many Places.

Pte. Glen Clarke, Talbotville, writes from France to his sister, Miss Nina Clarke, city, as follows:

"I am fine, real well, only somewhat tired, but will get rested up again soon. We were pretty busy this time up. Have got a wee bit of a cold, so the little hankerchief that your sent comes in pretty handy. Art Gale came over last night to see me. He has one stripe now, you know, and is over at the school taking an N.C.O's course. He looks fine; a great big tall fellow now. Our Sergeant just came in and said, We are going for a bath,' That sounds good to me. I am in the battalion scouts now although we sure did some good work last time up; came back O.K. I am not in the company anymore. I have been transferred to headquarters. I only wish Guy was in something like this; it has got the old machine gun section beat a mile. What I like about it is, you are all over; in no stationary place. We go up at night at ten o'clock, do our work and get back at three or four. We always come back behind the line - well, nearly a mile this time. We were in a nice, big, deep dugout and we had out own cook and believe me I feel much better; in fact, nearly as well as at home - good enough for anyone; nothing fancy, you know but good."
