Dear Mother:-
Well This is Sunday and I havent got any letters this week at all But I guess there will Be some on Tuesday anyway But now as I am Back to Bramshott again it wont seem so Bad. I guess you would have heard about Alex Been Killed. I didnt get any particulars at all only Jim Taylor told me That Dunk had saw it in the paper I had a letter from Dan he is at Shorncliff I may get a chance to go and see him when I get my pass well it just seems like six months since we got there and it is only 3 weeks last night. We left Halifax on the 8 got onto the Metagama that night but didnt leave ‘till Wednesday morning and were just 10 days on the Boat we got into Liverpool on the 19th But couldnt write for 3 or 4 days so you see it was near 2 weeks from the time we left Canada till we could write Back again and say that was the longest 10 days i ever put in in my Life. There was 8 days we never saw Land at all the same old thing all the time only when we say a whale or some porpus But the weather was fine just one day and one night the Boat Rolled a little it was just like Been on a swing. But not enough to make us sick. Say I wrote a letter to Aunt Sallie and it was sent Back But you can write and tell her that I cant write only to send it to you. Now say dont forget to send me some old Chum we can get McDonald Smoking here But it is only a little They had some left from the canteen in Halifax and it will soon Be all done. did you get your $20.00? we have to have $36 to our credit in the Bank for some Reason so I wont draw only about 8 Dollars a Month and maby not that till it is made up about 3 months and By that time we may Be in France all the fellows are find and are getting to like it Better as They get use to the country. But I didnt think it was so Rough. it is just like sylvan Valley all Hill and some good Big ones too tell Anna I will try and send Both her and Kate something from this country for a Birthday preasant next week if I can. How is Every Body is paws lump any Better I guess he will Beat the harvest now. it is all done in this Country and seems to have Been pretty good. I hope you got the money in time to help ge get someone to help him with it. The weather is quite cool and damp and I Think we will feel the cold as much as we would there for it is so damp. But we are getting all new clothes and will Be all Right.
How is Kates Family tell her I hope they are fine and How is Ida and Collie and old Ira and Mrs Peet well I guess this is pretty near all the news for now I will write again about the middle of the week so good Bye.
Love from John.
