My dear Ethel,
When I reached Brockley last Wednesday your letter from Bogend enclosing Alfs and Ernies was there. They all think that picture of Dot is splendid. I was going again tomorrow (Sunday) but am not well enough. I am very sore with innard inflamation and have to go to bed again. I have not been well since I left the Lord Derby Hospital. Following the time of my recent operation I had what is known as a “Cathater” in me to take off the water and I think it was this that set up the inflamation, in fact I am sure of it. If it was not for one thing after another coming on to keep me back I might be getting my “Canada Board” – a board of Drs. which examine me.
I am deeply sorry and anxious to hear you are suffering from the old trouble as soon as the cold weather comes on. It was your health I was thinking of most when I wrote to the Aux. about leaving M.P. I am sorry if I have put my foot in it, but as Mrs B-Jack wrote you, you had the chance to tell her you had decided to remain there.
Anyhow I hope you will take good care of yourself. I must write to Alf and Ernie as soon as I feel better. I think their letters are alright and I received the photo Alf took of you his first I think you said and I think I mentioned it in one of my letters.
You seem to be having a pretty good time visiting among friends. I dont suppose I would know any of them now.
In the snap shot enclosed it is easy to pick out the teacher. Dot perched up on the plow looks like a comic picture of pre historic times.
I will write again in a few days but for the present must quit. Tell the boys I will write to them soon.
With best love
Ever your loving
Ern
