The President,
Can. Engineers Auxiliary.
Winnipeg.

Madam,

I write to ask your assistance in respect to a matter I am unable to deal with myself from this distance, and it seems hardly likely that I shall be sent to Canada for discharge this year.

As you perhaps know, my wife is staying with her parents in Sask. during the Summer, and for a number of reasons, which she can explain to you, she wishes to live in Winnipeg during the coming Winter.  Besides being unhealthy as a residence during Winter, the cottage at Morse Place is too remote from the City while I am away, and I am afraid she would have considerable anxiety of the supply of fuel and food, from the look of things.

I therefore would ask you if a cottage or small house could be found in the City, not too far from a good school and in some decent part.  As they attend the King Edward Memorial Church Elmwood, would suggest that district.  Or perhaps, a few rooms in a block might be found.

As my wife has no income other than my Regimental pay, allowance and Patriotic Fund allowance, the amount she can pay in rent will not be much, but that is a matter I would ask you to kindly take up with her.  If you could help her in this I will be greatly obliged.  Below is her address, also my own.

I remain
Yours respectfully
