Letter

Dear Wally :-

Received your kind letter today and was glad to hear that you are fine.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the picture of yourself.  I think it is a fine picture of you thanks for sending it Old Boy.  I am enclosing in this letter a picture of myself to you.  I sure hope you like it.

Well how does it feel to have a girlfriend kid?  If she is nice looking you had better hid her when I come home on leave.  You know us sailors.

I see that that Fairchilds has at last given you some holidays.  It is a pity that you can’t get out of town for a few days.  But as it is I guess you are enjoying yourself.

There hasn’t been much in the way of excitement around here.  It is still as dead as a cemetery.  Nothing to do, nowhere to go.  When we go ashore we just walk along and trust the end of the road will bring something interesting.  nine times out of ten it doesn’t though  What are you doing in the way of excitement Wally?  Surely you can find something to do in Montreal  It certainly is big enough.  Maybe you need me to take you out.  We used to have some pretty good times together eh!  We’ll have some more as soon as this war is over.  It looks as though there wont be anything left of the gang in a short while if they keep joining up.  The weather down here is very hot right now.  Very hot mingled with a nice cool breeze.  It makes you good this sea air.

Well Wally this is all I have to say for this time.  I am in the same fix as you are there isn’t anything to say.  I shall close now hoping you are having a good time.

Your Loving Brother
Jake
