PERSONAL COMBAT REPORT:
Ref: 127/21 Front Line Patrol
DATE: 2nd July, 1944.
SQUADRON: 403
TYPE OF A/C: Spit. IX.B
TIME UP: DOWN: 1412 — 1522
TIME OF ATTACK: 30 min. after a/b.
PLACE OF ATTACK: East of CAEN
HEIGHT OF ENEMY: 8,000ˈ
OWN HEIGHT: 8,000ˈ
OUR CASUALTIES: Nil
ENEMY CASUALTIES: 1 Me. 109 Damaged.

NARRATIVE:
On July 2nd, while flying Blue 2, I was returning to Base alone, after letting down through cloud to approximately 8,000ˈ, I broke out over CAEN and saw one Me.109 flying South East at approx., 8,000ˈ. I broke into him and saw four more flying just in cloud. I managed to single him out and to fire on him several times. After chasing him East as far as South LE HAVRE– I had to break off and return to base on account of shortage of petrol. I did not see any strikes as I was too busy watching my own tail — but the film showed several strikes on the tail section and possibly the starboard wing.
I claim this ME.109 as damaged.
