Dear Mary,

Received yours of Feb 5 to day and the kiddies paper hearts they are fine wish your weather was better it very bad for colds hope you do not get a bad one this time it is very soft weather here, thank each one for these nice home made hearts, your box has not come yet it may in a good time, Mother don’t remember that I like a good full stomach, the cost of mailing is better now, my side is quite sore yet but not to bad, this is an out fit glad Nell can come in to see you some times will be glad when we can get fixed so you can get away oftener, hope Willies wife is not long ill, when you here salmon is 40¢ a can milk 30¢ well the pancake batter is getting dryed up a little bit now will not be quite so bad going in this next coming night I am in the rifle grenade section from to day we will go to a different place when we come out, hope I get a letter to night from you folks, I sliped fell on my side yesterday hurt my ribbs some will be better in a day or two, we get well quick over here, your and M’s cakes were rich and great if it did not cost so much to mail them it would be great to get ever week I did not know the writing on your last parcel it looked like Freds and it was mailed on the same day as his were Uncle Will is write one about him, I am thinking your gas was not very strong for that cold weather, glad Father put it in the front room, Mother and Irene and a great many of you people have had there own times this winter it may make things open up good this spring We are moving to a place and will be on working partys, was out digging untill midnight lately, our sleeping places are a long way from our work which takes a lot of time, wish I could get home and help you through with all the trouble well will close it may be some day anyway that I will step in
