Diary

Thurs. May 17 -

Rained most of night and was wet and muddy in morning. Remained cloudy all day. A very quiet day - hardly a shot came over and we fired none. Our sub went on guard at night. In the evening we learned that Pitcher had died over at the dressing station on the same day he was wounded and that he had been buried not far from here in a cemetery on outskirts of Vimy. A simple wooden cross bearing date of death, name, battery and number, marks the grave.
