Dear Sister Ann

I have just come in from all day around the country seeing the sights in Monte Carlo & Monaco etc. & no more wonderful place could be imagined. The mountains, sea, red roofed houses, palm trees & glorious sunsets all blend together & make a regular fairyland. You can hardly believe your eyes. I wouldn't have missed this for anything. You must see it, or perhaps you were here as I remember you were in Europe & Greece some time ago. If not, you & Glad must take in the trip some day after the war if it ever ends. Picking oranges off the tree's a thing I am sure I never hoped to do in my wildest dreams & believe me they taste altogether different from the home bres.

The people here show very little effect of the war & I am sure some don't even know there is a war on. The traveling is awful & the most tiring thing possible. To think of the trip back to Nancy gives me the creeps. It's just like heaven to Hell. We never see the sun up North for weeks at a time.

We had the most glorious sunset last night. Green, yellow, red, all blending together of the most vivid hues. It was the most wonderful sight I ever witnessed & I thought I had seen some sunsets at that.

Regards to Glad

Pete.
