Dear Pat.

Well here I am, you asked for it so now you are going to get it but first of all I want you to thank your mother and father for the lovely Sunday we spent there last week I think Johnny will back me up when I say that it was the best time weve had since we left home.

You should be here and listen to Johnny talk about Dorry (I think that’s the way you spell it) he really misses her a great deal more than she suspects it. He’s been wishing he could have stayed in Victoria a while longer, but then who doesn’t.

I want you to forget what Johnny said over the phone the night before we left, I dont think he meant anything by it although I dont exactly know what he said to you, but I hope you won’t hold it against him or me.

I dont want to make this letter sound dull but so help me I can’t think of a thing to say except that I had a wonderful time with you on Sunday and also that I wish it could happen more often, but I dont think it can because the way there talking around here we’ll only be in Victoria about 2 weeks when we’re finished here so that doesn’t leave much time does it. And just in case I do get a weekend Ill hold you to promise about phoning you up, and I dont think there’ll be much doubt about at least one weekend away, so get a canoe already for the day we come back, because that’ll be the first place Ill think of.

Like I told you over the phone the torpedo exam was a cinch, the instructor answered some of the questions for us, but even without his help I think I could have passed. (I think).

Johnny has been trying to break me of that habit of that gruesome laugh you were always commenting on. Oh! yes for gosh sakes dont ever let Johnny see this letter (if you’d call it a letter) or he’ll murder me.

Like I said before I can’t think of anything to say, so Ill say good bye for now.
