All safe so far Lots of hard work and and poor grub. We get up every morning at 3.30 and push on all day. The worst work I have to do is outpost Picket duty about every third night, our advance guard had a brush with a small band of Stoneys and exchanged a few shots one Indian wounded at least he almost fell off his pony. I dare say we may have a pot at them to morrow I am in good trim and as my friend [young?] Humphrey says awfully fit. If we are not shoved past Battlefd to Fort Pitt will write letter.

Your afftn brother
