Dear Mother

I arrived in Winnipeg this morning in splendid condition. Gerald met me at the station and brought me home. he has a very nice and comfortable home and pretty wife. I like his wife very much in the little I have seen of her. She did me up quite a nice hamper for me to take to the train. I was all over town with Katie she is looking well. I read your letter on the train after we left Winnipeg this afterno

The train is reaching Brandon so I must hurry. With reference to the Bank the only thing I heard from them was what I told you before I left. I have heard nothing since with regard to the money you can do as you like but you had better not do anything until I hear. [I’ve no?] news [?] from you or the [manager?] —

Will write if possible from Quapelle or at any rate as soon as possible, Love to all

[In haste?] Your aff son,
Lewis.

[cross-written postscript:] [Will send?] long letters as [often?] as possible though you wont hear now [remainder of sentence unreadable]
