Dear Dad

I received your letter of Dec 24 and I want to thank you ever so much for the five dollars also for the bottle in mother parcels for Nov 1 and Nov 12 its so good of you Dad and I apprecite it a awful lot. I have three bottle now two from you and one from George be I am not going to open them till Christmas I am so sorry to hear you have not made much money this year it’s a dam shame because I know how hard you work and if there is any one who deserves a break its you all I hope is that you clean up an university job.

I don’t think I know Cal Nash or Captain Snider. I cant recall this Sgt Adams David met although I might have run across him somewhere. Although I remember you talking about him being fired from the fire department also about him owning you some money.

Well Dad I am getting along fine here in the 13th and am quite satisfied I ran in to Billy Rushworth last night and told him you send your regards and he was asking how you were and how every thing was going. I don’t see him very much a you see we are all split up in troops and he is in Battery headquarter and we are in our battle positions

In a way I am glad to hear the boys at the plant have joined the one big union at least they will get a square deal

Mr Sales was on the Winnipeg Police force somewhere between 1922 and 1926 I am not excuily sure when Eric is out to night or I could have asked him

Thank ever so much for trying to send me a box of Appls I guess they need all the space they can get in the boats As for going back to the Heating Co that is to be seen but I certainly would like to work into your business when I stop and think and look back I think what a silly fool I was in not taking the oppuretiny I had and sticking with you and you will remember I used to get sore at you and I think now what a silly ass I was of course I never ment it I was just so dam stubborn but I have changed a lot since then. As for picking up a couple of army trucks after the war that should be quite easy and quite cheap and they sure have thousand of them and some that would be just the kind for your type of work but anyhow I sure would like to work with you

Yes that was a very good picture of the king and queen the first fellow a lance bombaier. I can’t spell his name he is from Regina the next one is Gnr Amos he is from Saskawan somewhere it sure would would be nice if you could get it in the paper.

I am sorry to hear about Mother [but?] she never tell me anything like that I do hope they are better now I had a letter from Granny Blair with five dollar in it for Christmas its ever so sweet of her and I know she can’t afford it

I can quite easly see mother goes to a awful lot of trouble in making up my parcels it must Cost a awful lot she is way to good to me and I don’t know how I can ever repay her and she sure think of every thing I only wish I could do something for her gosh the Christmas parcels I got a fellow couldent want any thing more there couldent be a another mother as good as mother is.

Well Dad it looks as if the war is nearer home now and I hope to God it doesen’t get any nearer. Japan has done a thing which is not even human but they will get theres in time it looks as if Germany is on her last legs and I think very shortly she will be on the run and then we will have Japan where we want her. I guess you know there are Canadians in Hong Kong including your old Battalion the Grenadiers God I feel sorry for them just lift Canada and have to go there and not even seen any action just like from Heaven to Hell. And I think Hong Kong will fall but the Japs will pay dearly in taking it and the Canadians there will make a name for themself and all other Canadians I guess we Can all spare a pray for them.

Well Dad there doesent seen much more to write about so will close for now hoping you all have a very merey Christmas

love
Mac
