Dear Mother

I received your air Mail letter of Sept 15th three days but have not been able to write as we have been on 8 days manouvers and just got back 6 oclock this morning I want to thank you for the four pound 4 shillings you sent me I received the money you Cabled me quite a while ago and gave it to Sgt Morris to keep for me so I will have plenty of money I am going on leave to-morrow night and Eric goes the next night I am going to get a room in London to-morrow night and meet Eric the next night we are then going up to a little place called [Basivan?] Derbyshire there are some people there that Eric knows that used to live in Winnipeg and they have invitated us to stay with them for a couple of days we are then going to spend the rest of our leave in Chesterfield and I will write you a couple of letters while I am there.

Well the mail has been comming in very poorly lately but there will be some in to-morrow I heard there was a boat in harber with a bunch of troops and mail on it in quarintine for scarlet fever.

You said you got my air mail letter did Dad get his cause I sent Dad and you one the same day and I sent Dad and you one since then. The sweater you said you had for me if it has sleves in send it if it is sleeveless as I have three sleeveless sweaters now I got the 300 Cigarettes you sent on June 26th also the 1000 you sent also 300 from Uncle Billy I am quite Satisfied here in the 13th Battry and I know a lot of the boys and Eric and me are to gether so I am quite contented. I to a roll of pictures and will take some more on leave and will send them when I get them developed. Those pictures you sent of the garden are sure nice I like the one of the front of the house best it certainly looks nice with lilac bushes cut down you must have a swell garden thiss year did the rose bush bloom it certainly looks nice.

It certainly is to bad you had to let Granny woods house go for so little and how is it you only get $300 that isen’t fair. yes I still have my flashlight I havent used it much till just lately now that the nights are getting dark. don’t worry about me now that the winter is comming on as we have lots of warm cloths to put on. don’t worry about me staying over night in London as they have no air raids now so I will close for now and will write again in a couple of days

Much love
Mac
