Dear Ladies

I wish to convey my many thanks to all the members of the Ladies Aid for the very nice box of chocolates which I received at a recent date

I enjoyed the chocolates very much, it has been some time since my shipmates and I have been able to get good chocolate. We get a few bars once in awhile but they are not at all like the chocolate from Canada, so you can see why not only myself but my buddies also enjoyed the gift I received from you people at home.

In closing I would like to thank you all again and wish you one and all the very best for the Festive Season and the Year to come.

Yours Sincerely
Charlie Matthew

P.S.  I hope this letter gets to the proper person as there was no address on the card I received, I also hope you will be able to read this because I’m writing this at sea and we are taking a bit of a beating.
