September 8, 1944

Dear Mom,

As far as I can make things out here is my schedule for the next few days.

We leave here on the night of Tuesday the 12th, and I'll be home on the morning of Thursday, the 14th.

Then I'll be home until 7:00 p. m., Wednesday night, the 20th (7 days), and will leave for St. Thomas, arriving there at 11 o'clock on the night of Friday, the 22nd.

I'll have two days, the 23rd and the 24th (Saturday and Sunday) in St. Thomas, leaving there at 11 o'clock on the 24th to arrive at 11 o'clock on the 25th, to catch the 12 o'clock tramcar to Lachine. The 25th is the deadline of my Draft to report to the # 1 Y Depot in Lachine.

To make that clearer: I'll have Thurs. 14th, Fri. 15th, Sat. 16th,
Sun. 17th, Mon. 18th, Tues. 19th, and Wed. 20th at home in Glace Bay, C. B., and Sun. 23rd, and Mon. 24th. in St. Thomas.

It took me quite a little while to figure that all out, but it should be correct unless complications arise, and then I'll let you know. My orders are to arrive in Lachine on the 25th. So that allows me only nine days leave, which amounts to the balence of my original furlough, but now that I'm on Embarcation Leave, it takes presedence.

Stewart and others are getting their total leave, but I, and about a dozen others have to put up with less days, because our orders were late getting to us.

Anyway, I'll have a few days at home, and I'll see Joyce for two days, at the end of September, even though I'd visited her at the end of August. It will be a long time before I will see her again.

Unless something else happens the above schedule will be followed.

Love to all, Lewis.
