My Dear Mater,

It is terrible, that I have not written sooner, but there are several reasons. I have been busy, tired but the chief reason is I have been expecting Canadian mail, every day. To date tho it has not materialized. Surely tho, it will not be many more days.

Had a letter from Walt Barnard last night and his platoon has been acting with the British troops lately, but he expects to be back with his own outfit and no doubt is, before this. He has certainly been lucky hasn’t he. I surely hope it continues.

I had a new experience last night. For the first time, I saw one of the night raiders in the beam of the searchlights. It is a wonderful sight. Believe me, they didn’t half give it to him. As he was up from us quite a little piece, we could watch the fun. You spoke once of seeing them up there and knowing they were after you, but the trouble is, it’s very seldom you get a chance to see them tho. That is the trouble, you never know when they are just over you, or just a few hundred yards away.

I have really no news at all to-night. In fact I am longing for a letter or two from home, with some home news in. Was lucky enough to have a letter from Floss the other day which helped.

I am enclosing a few pictures from the Etaples affair. It is very probable that the funeral picture is that of Sister MacDonald, I believe a Brantford girl. She came to France with us but left here a couple of months ago. I am not sure that it is hers, but we believe she was the second of three who died. It is certainly too bad they got the nurses

I will write again as soon as we get some mail in

Love to all,
Your loving son
Worth.
