My Dear Mater,

Just while I have the minutes, I will get this off and away. Parcels have not arrived yet, but none have so I am not worrying. We will tho likely get them with our next mail.

I wonder if you have had word of our hospitals being bombed. As the particulars have not been published in this country. I can’t tell you much. Perhaps tho, you have had full particulars over there. This particular instance was not in our area. I know one of the girls very well, she was with us in England, and came to France with us. Word came to-night that another who was with us, has died. She was a friend of Archie Oliver and he is on his way down there now. He will likely bring back some news. I am hoping that Wilfred Mc.Guire was not there, but we will get particulars in time.

I am glad you enjoyed your little visit and were able to see a good deal of the kids. Mir. was fortunate to be with you so much. Hope I will be back before she is thro and we can all have a good time to-gether.

I am mighty sorry you did not get in to see Quinnie, she is so near to Nerta too and I know would have been tickled to see you. Don’t miss her again, even if it’s only for a minute. I wish too that you could run across Georgie, but then I suppose Nert has left nothing untold in that direction. What?

It was nice for Dad and Emerson to have a little time to-gether, wish I could have been with them. If I stay there, I will certainly miss Kim, but by that time he will likely be over staying at home all the time. I hope Dad will be able to get down to see Uncle Will and all of them for a little while. He could stay near Mir. and see as much of her as possible. A couple of days down there will likely do him.

Awfully glad Bob has been promoted, but goodness knows he is the kind that should be. Les. Jackson also did well to get fixed up so well. I do hope his health keeps up. My, I do envy those fellows now. Am so glad Jim and Nick got back too.

The real reason I do not write both sides of the paper, is on account of the censor cutting out parts. Then the paper is pretty thin too.

I don’t see if it was the same N/S. Whitely, why they said of Goderich. Her husband was related to the Dr. (Vera’s Father) but I did not think she ever lived there. She died in Boulogne, and was buried in the Military cemetery there.

You had better not send this on to Mir., but I want one thing understood, now and always, she is not to come over here, under any circumstances – except of course conscription, which is most unlikely. In case I am not able to make myself heard when the time comes, remember that it is my wish. I would rather see her dead over there than alive here. I can’t give you my reasons of course but believe me they are good ones, and many. I have not got the girls parcel off yet, but will try to in a couple of days. I want to get some little thing for Floss too, but most things are so absolutely useless. These things I am sending, will be nice silver plated later, if their finish wears off.

Our Chaplains are all being changed, they keep moving them ’round, so far I have not known any of them. Mr. Howard, I believe is over. Would like to see him.
