My Dear Mater,

As I told Dad, and as he asked in a letter I got last night, I will do all my writing home, & you can forward them to the dear kids. I have just had dinner & as there is a little lull I will try to get this written now. Needless to say, we are most busy, but I got a good nights sleep last night. Thanks to some one who forgot to call me at 2.30 A.M., however, it turned out to be for the best. Enough about the work tho, as this is a green envelope.

I am glad to say I was able to get out to a short communion at eleven this morning. There were only seven there, but owing to the existing conditions I believe the padre’s will extend to-day services over two or three days, so that all can get in.

The first mail we have had from Canada arrived last night. I was asleep on my table, but wakened enough to read two letters from Dad, and one from Nert, which were all the home letters in the bunch. Finished the last, just now. Cards from Hazel Mae, & the Sedricks. Please thank them as I haven’t time. Letters from Bill Law, Mae, Mable Allen May Mc Donell (Sudbury) & Walt Barnard, who was still on top when he wrote. I don’t wish Wilfred Mac G. any hard luck, but I hope his toes give him a great deal of trouble for the next month, as they will save him a lot of trouble. If he was still in hospital, he is likely in Blighty now, tho, and will be O.K.

I have heard on pretty good authority that Vas is only about 20 miles from here, and I do wish I could see him, but of course it is impossible. I believe he is with a unit which crossed with us in Dec. & with which we were camped. I am quite sure, tho that he was not with them then or I would have seen him.

I have had three copies of the post, and they came as a God send, as in the spare minutes they have furnished a diversion that is very much needed. I don’t want time to think at all.

This is the last of the month, which alone means enough for me. However I think I will get along jake, with a little extra time.

I have three or four of your letters now & will try to answer them as more will likely be here in a day or two.

It’s no darn wonder Alex T. is a nervous speaker, I will be lucky if I can talk at all when I get back.

Miss Mae told me that Will. Beath from Sudbury, had been returned from England & was now in Gravenhurst. He always did look delicate & never took care of himself.

Do not send any summer weight underwear, as I will be able to get anything I require over here, all right.

Must get back to work,
Love to all,

Your loving son,
Worth.
