My Dear Dad,

I have not felt like writing lately but see it is nearly a week since I last wrote. A couple of Canadian Mails have come in and I have three of your letters. The cable saying you were better, arrived before I really knew you were worse. I am mighty glad you are around again and hope you are able to get up to Muskoka and that it does you good.

It has been rather quiet with us lately but of course it is busy again now. Isn’t the news splendid? The troops are surely covering some ground. A couple of our boys are lucky enough to be down for the fuss.

It is certainly a good thing that Nert. got home when she did and was able to help you out as she has done.

That is a good joke on Burkholder. They didn’t stick it to him half hard enough.

Uncle Billy will be rather up against it if his chemist dies. He should get the formulae some way or other.

We have a great many rabbits now and they are doing fine altho quite a few died at first. We have not killed any yet, but they are fine eating. We have had frozen ones from Australia and tinned ones. They are both good and give a different flavour to the mulligan. I am sure tho that you would enjoy the stew made from Australian “mutton,” I don’t think they grow any “lamb” in that country.

It's a good thing the kid got her exams, but I am sorry her chum did not.

Too bad bus. was not better, but it’s surprising that it was so good with you out of it most of the time. Do hope Miss S. stays with it and does not take sick. Tell her I am still alive.

They surely charged you a fine price for the new armature, but I suppose it is all copper wire, and it must be an awful price now. Labor too must be higher. Inez Olds is with sheet metal work and their workman struck a few weeks ago getting raised I believe it was to 60¢ an hour – 8 hour day – which is some price for Toronto.

Let’s hope this new start is the beginning of the end, which I really believe it is. Love to all.

Your affectionate son,
Worth.
