My Dear Mother and All,

This will only be a short note, but I really had to write you to-night to tell you I have seen Ivan Stuart. This was my afternoon off, and I went down town, coming home early. I was standing at the fort of the hill talking to some of the boys when a voice from behind said “Do you boys belong to No. 10.” I thought there was something familiar about the voice and turned to find Ivan. He did not know I was in the unit, but knows some of the others. He was with “C” section C.A.M.C. in London and we have several “C sees” men with us. He is now with the signallers. He is a fine large fellow, I tell you. He is right near me and will I expect, call to-morrow afternoon.

Another thing, to-day, I had my good watch made luminous. A watchmaker here, put spots on the dial around the small circle, so that they show thro the hole in the case, and also put pieces on the hands. If it stays, it sure is a dandy thing. He charged me only 3/6 - 84¢. For 2/ more he would put full luminous hands but they would not be any better for me. These hands cost us 50¢ wholesale at home. He also puts on full luminous figures. I will get the address of the firm supplying the material to him and Dad can investigate. I think there would be good demand for this work on ordinary watches, especially for those who do much driving or autoing.

I thought when at home, that motors would be scarce here, the govt using them all, but such is not the case. There are thousands of them running around and judging from the numbers of “Tin Lizzies” around, we might be within 100 miles of Detroit. Gasoline or “petrol” as they call it here is as hard to buy as booze must be in Ontario now. There are many subsitutes tho.

Well my Dears it is 8.30 and I must retire.

Lovingly,
Worth.

The enclosed gives you an idea of food prices here. WD.
