Shorncliffe, England,
September, 8th/16.

Dear Mother and All,

I will just write a note to-night, and a letter on Sunday or early in the week.

It is quite cold here at night, but warm at noon, no rain to speak of yet.

Your letter of the 21st just came to hand Wednesday, so it takes about 15 days to get here, but depends on how the mails run, we never know here, when a Canadian mail is going, so likely we will both get our mail in bunches.

I was afraid you would come up to London, and I am really glad you did not, much better not, the day was terrible hot, and the crowd immense.

Miss Lipsitt said she would drop a card. I will send her one from here, one of the boys has her address.

I will not need any eats, thanks, the meals are better, very fair now and I get cocoa and buns etc., and a good meal down town a couple times a week.

As soon as I can get a box I am sending my cheap watch and the spoon. Have Dad send to [Zinstay?] for a winding pinion for this watch, and return it to me. Have Nerta send me £1. every other week. It sure goes here, but I have not cashed my drafts. Have drawn £2. pay tho and have nearly £2. on hand now.

I would like to have you make a bag of the heaviest kaki material you can get. (Like the hammock, for instance.) About 18” to 24” long, by 12” to 15” wide with say tan laces for drawstring. This will do for soiled clothes, and serve for a pillow, also to carry things when moving, if necessary. I find I need a pillow, using my tunic at present. I could not of course carry a pillow. I may get a rubber one to blow up and put in the bag. They have them for 1/- here, quite a good idea too.

Thanks for clipping, they took pictures too, did you see them in the Press. Just send it when interesting, and tell me any casualties, I know.

No, Floss and I are not engaged. I will never become engaged till I have something very definite in view. In fact, I doubt very much if I will ever marry.

Must close as it is nearly time to be put out.

Love to All,
Worth.
