Belgium,

I've been moving around so much lately that I've forgotten when I wrote you last. I think it was at the D.A.P. after Xmas.

Well I went back to No. 1 Field Ambulance on the 28th and spent one day there. I was then sent down as M.O. to the 14th Battalion and came down on the 30th. I hence missed New Year's dinner with Pat G- at the D.A.P. and so cannot give you any news of the plum pudding until I find out from Pat how it tasted. I went into the trenches to the Battn. in the afternoon and we just came out today and are now in billets for a few days.

I have'nt had any mail now for nearly a week but am getting Boswell my Batsman who is still at No.1 with the nag to bring it up to the 9th guns which are near here I saw the Major on the way out tonight.

I asked Hope to send you "Bystander of Dec. 29th and a book of sketches by Bairnsfather. On page 554 is the place where my dressing station is, the door under where the bell used to be. The picture called a Xmas. dream is in the room itself. I was reading the poem the other day. We had quite a comfortable dugout down there but the front trenches are pretty wet.

My new job consists in estimating whether a man is sick or bluffing, quite a proposition at times, and looking after the wounded if any. New Year's day was quite quiet.
