Dear Miss Shand –

Once again we are on our way to the Old Country. We had a very pleasant trip on the train considering the four of us were all well acquainted. Our party had increased to six by the time we reached the end of our journey.

We had our dinner at the station about seven oclock and then proceeded to locate our baggage and were successful in doing so. The baggage man told us the military Authorities would arrange its transportation to the ship but we went down in a taxi and found our big grey ship awaiting us with its two gang planks already much in use. The man to whom we were report was a very busy man seeing that every one received their proper tickets and papers. We went at once to our state room and desposed of our hand luggage then came off the ship again to watch for the truck which they said would bring down our big luggage. I was determined I would not sleep that night until all my worldly possessions were near me. At eleven p.m. my trunk was under my bed and my two large boxes in the wardrobe, so I slept in peace.

We sailed some time in the night and are now going slowly down the river.

It was so good of you all to come down to see me off and I appreciated it very much indeed. Will you ask Mrs Clare and Miss Mac Namara if they will consider this their letter too as I want to say the same things to you all and the time is now getting short before we post our letters.

I wish the trip were all by river. In that case I would apply for permanent transport duty.

Must close now,
With much love to you all.
Sincerely yours.
Lena A. Davis.

Am going to open my first parcel this afternoon and will tell you later of its contents. Many thanks for same
L.D.
