Just a line my dear Mrs. Boggs to express our sympathy with you all in your loss. Words are so powerless at such a time may God help you to bear it and oh! I trust this cruel war may soon end. Your brave boy has given his life, how many are mourning the world over. I have often felt this winter that my troubles were too hard but so many have worse ones. Mr. Wilkins has come home after 5 weeks in the hospital, he is not long for this world, but he has had his life. Isabel’s husband still a young man but a victim of consumption has not been able to do anything for two years. The loss of her beautiful baby boy a year old, has been a great grief to all of us. I must not worry you with our troubles was only showing you how everyone has something to suffer and bear in this world.
My kindest regards to your husband. I regret that owing to loss of sight I never know anyone on the street unless they speak to me. Mr. Wilkins joins me in sympathy to you both
Yrs very truly
Mary. A. Wilkins
