Dear Boggs

From the paper tonight I learned of the death of you son Capt Herbert, and I felt that I must write you a line and express my sympathy to you, in your bereavement, Especially as it brings home to me very forcibly the fact that I may be the next one to suffer a similar loss, as my boy Ken, who knew Herbert very well, is in France with the 2nd Brigade of the first Contingent

I should feel proud of them both that they wanted to go. And made up my mind that if anything happened that Ken did not come back that I would bear it as bravely as I could, and feel that I was only one of thousands of other Fathers who would suffer [?] loss

Sincerely Yours
R.W. Eabet
